Hoot!

Looking for Owls today. I've always thought they are the most fascinating birds. The way their heads move, how big their eyes are, the sounds they make.... So, anyway, I had heard from a friend about a mother owl that hatched her babies at the Kelly Campgrounds near Kelly, WY, located in the Jackson Hole area. Of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them! This is one of the best ways, by the way, of finding wildlife....Talk to the locales! Someone can always point you in the right direction for viewing wildlife.

The hidey hole Mother Owl chose for her babies is located high up in an old Cotton Wood tree. I have to say that it resembles the shape of a heart, as you can see, making it all the more fascinating! The babies are about ready to leave the nest, but still have some of their baby feathers....

It was a challenge to get the perfect photo with both little ones in the shot. So I went back a week later and was able to get this photo. Not in the hidey hole, but I like it...

I'm sure Mama Owl will be back next year to use this same nest and until then.... Happy Wildlife Hunting!
